108 families already received appliances and household goods
Thanks to the help of so many people and mainly of some companies, we have been able to deliver so far, hundreds of appliances and household goods to 108 families (benefiting more than 320 people), mainly in the towns of Catarroja and Algemesí, two of the towns most affected by the DANA.
The main items we distributed were refrigerators, ovens, washing machines, microwaves, mattresses, sheets, pillows and other basic necessities.
These donations have brought a little hope and relief during these difficult times, especially to the most vulnerable people: the elderly.

The rains of the DANA leave their mark in Valencia: Testimony of Yolanda, a story of overcoming and solidarity.
The torrential rains and floods that hit the Valencia region at the end of October left a trail of devastation, with historic rainfall. The magnitude of the damage was enormous, but in the midst of the tragedy, stories of resilience and solidarity emerged.
One such story is that of Yolanda, who experienced first-hand the chaos caused by the storm. “I was living in one room and I was moving to another room to improve my situation. We were in the van with everything loaded and the water came and took everything away,” she recalls sadly how her efforts to rebuild her life vanished in an instant. “I had to put myself in a hostel, where they charged me 40 euros. There was no water, no hot food, no showers. We would go to a park and fetch water from jugs and shower with cold water,” she says of the harsh conditions she faced in those days.
However, solidarity was key to her survival. After losing everything, Yolanda sought help and got accommodation in an Airbnb thanks to Mensajeros de la Paz, “They placed me in Sedaví, where I am now living. They paid for my lodging and at all times they called me asking me how I was doing, if I needed anything,” she explains with gratitude.
Grateful for the support received, Yolanda does not forget the generosity of those who helped her to move forward, “if it had not been for them, I would have had to sleep in the park,” she says. “Thanks to all of you who support people who are having a hard time, thanks to all the help that comes to Valencia, and thanks to associations like you,” she concludes, visibly moved.
Yolanda’s testimony reflects not only the devastating impact of the DANA in Valencia, but also the capacity of a community to unite and overcome adversity. As the waters receded, solidarity remained, helping so many people to rebuild their lives.

Thanks to your donations, in recent weeks, we have been able to deliver appliances to people who have lost everything, in affected towns, such as Algemesí.
We have already delivered dozens of washing machines, refrigerators, mattresses and beds.
Our priority is the elderly who are in great vulnerability, many of them without insurance or support network.

QUEDADA (JOGGING AND WALKING)
“On Sunday December 1, 2024 and coinciding with the Valencia Marathon, was the date set for a Quedada (Jogging and Walking) in Playa San Juan-Muchavista.
The march began at 9:30 am with approximately 50 people of the more than 1,000 who purchased their solidarity bib to contribute to those affected by the DANA in Valencia on October 29th.
More than 5.000€ were collected and will be destined to the Asociacion Mensajeros de la Paz, who have been working in different Valencian towns since the first moment of that fateful day.
In addition, they were kind enough to accompany us and tell us everything that is being done and all the needs that should be covered as soon as possible”.
Our impact after one month
Thanks to so many people and companies, we were able to be at ground zero from the very first moment, and we set up 4 aid stations in the most affected villages, achieving, together with more than 500 people between volunteers and technical team:
- 45,000 rations of hot food
- 30 trailers with hygiene, cleaning and food products.
- 1000 people assisted in the Hygiene Bus
- 150 elderly and dependent people assisted in their homes
- 50 people assisted by the Golden Phone
- 200 nights of free lodging for affected families
- 300 homes, gyms, schools and stores that we helped to clean up
We are moved by the great response of solidarity and humanity, which fills us with hope because we know that there is still a long way to go… We are currently working on more personalized help: rebuilding homes, offering emotional support and restoring stability to so many families.
HISTORY OF MENSAJEROS IN THE DANA
Our work in Mensajeros de la Paz to help the affected families in Valencia began the first day after the DANA. Having our own offices in different parts of the Valencian Community, we were directly affected suffering floods and losses, but we have acted very quickly due to our proximity to the disaster areas.
From the first moment, we have been adapting to the different needs of the affected towns, collaborating in different ways with municipalities, other entities and the community in general.
Today, our actions are focused on:
- Delivering hot meals to the affected families and personnel working there.
- Distribution of food, cleaning and personal hygiene products, both at headquarters and in homes.
- Providing showers and toilet facilities through our Hygiene Bus, which travels through the different towns on a daily basis.
- Providing free temporary accommodation to affected families, through an agreement with Airbnb.

This afternoon, Tamara worked alongside our volunteers in the reception and classification of essential items, such as food, hygiene products, essential resources for those who, at this time, are living such difficult circumstances. Her presence and support have been a boost for everyone, and she herself expressed her gratitude to each person who is contributing, whether by donating time, effort or resources.

There are already 4 help stands.
In these stands we are distributing daily; food, fruit, water, coffee, cleaning materials (buckets, shovels, brushes), water boots, clothes, cleaning products for the houses, personal hygiene, etc.

OUR HYGIENE BUS STARTS OPERATING
Our Hygiene Bus will be all this week touring the neighborhoods without electricity and water, offering people the opportunity to shower and clean themselves. Every day, we will visit the areas indicated by the social services, bringing hope and well-being thanks to our EMT volunteers. Just the simple act of washing their hands and face, brings relief and a sense of dignity in these difficult times.

From the golden telephone 900 222223, we are united to assist all the people who need to be heard in these difficult times.
Of the 280 users we have on a regular basis, 14 users are from Valencia, so on Wednesday and Thursday we have been calling them to know how they are doing and listening to their great sadness.
Areas where Mensajeros de la Paz is helping
One of the action areas where we are helping is in the towns of Torrent, Picanya, Paiporta, Benetuser, Alfafar, Sedaví and the district of La Torre which belongs to the city of Valencia. This is the closest area to Valencia; the farthest town is 5 kilometers away.
And this is the other area affected by the flooding of the Magro river.
Here our help is focused on the population of Algemesí.

Airbnb.org has teamed up with Mensajeros de la Paz, a non-profit organization, to offer free temporary accommodation, to people who have been displaced or evacuated from their homes due to flooding in Valencia and Castellon. The stays will be completely free for guests and are covered by Airbnb.org and the generosity of Airbnb hosts.

Mensajeros de la Paz delivers 5,000 sandwiches and 100 mattresses in Paiporta
In response to the recent DANA that has affected the region of Valencia, the association Mensajeros de la Paz delivered today 5,000 sandwiches and 100 mattresses in Paiporta, destined to the people affected by the heavy rains.
In addition, the association’s team took advantage of the day to clean its headquarters in Algemesí, ensuring that its facilities are ready to continue offering support to the community in these difficult times.
A day of solidarity and hope in Valencia
Throughout the day today, our volunteers and collaborators have once again demonstrated their solidarity for the families of Valencia. Our volunteers have been working tirelessly, receiving and sorting donations to help the areas most affected by the DANA. Throughout the day, we have made multiple trips to take these donations to those who need it most, and we have also been helping to clean their homes, trying to alleviate a little of the difficult situation they are living. All of this has been possible thanks to the generosity of those who are donating, showing that together we can make a big difference. Thank you all for your support!
Father Angel arrives in Algemesi with food and comfort for those affected by the DANA
Yesterday afternoon, our founder, Father Angel, managed to reach the town of Algemesi in Valencia, one of the areas most affected by the devastating DANA, which has left families homeless and huge material losses. In a van loaded with food and basic supplies, Father Angel went to meet those who have lost everything to offer support, comfort and words of encouragement.

We have just delivered food and drinks to the personnel of the UME, who have been working tirelessly in extreme conditions, with hardly any time to stop to rest or eat. We have met these silent heroes who, despite many hours without adequate food, have not stopped their rescue work and help to the affected people.
