On a date as important as Christmas Eve, in Mensajeros de la Paz we have celebrated, for the tenth consecutive year, a special evening with people in situations of extreme vulnerability. On this occasion, we have done it at the Cervantes Institute, with the aim of sharing solidarity and hope with those who need it most.
Our Solidarity Christmas Eve, promoted by Father Ángel and our entire team, has brought together nearly 200 people in vulnerable situations, as well as more than 30 volunteers and collaborators. To make this possible, we have held two simultaneous dinners: one in the Church of San Antón, a place of reference for our Association, and another at the Cervantes Institute, which in this edition has become an epicenter of social support and generosity.
Over the years, we have celebrated this Christmas Eve dinner in different emblematic places in Madrid such as the Santiago Bernabéu stadium, the Teatro Real or even the Prado Museum.
Before starting the dinner, Father Ángel, president and founder of Mensajeros de la Paz, visibly moved, wanted to address the guests:
“Never in history has there been so much solidarity. It fills me with emotion that, with the help of Luis and the Cervantes Institute, once again this year, we have been able to celebrate this special dinner. The only thing that makes sense is to love and let yourself be loved, especially by the most vulnerable.”
Within the framework of this emotional celebration, Luis García Montero, director of the Cervantes Institute, also wanted to join in with some words that moved the attendees:
“When the I and the you come together, they constitute a community. And living in community is what gives meaning to the word love,” said Montero.
Also present at the event were our general director, Sergio Mella, and the general secretary of the Cervantes Institute, Carmen Noguero.
