In response to recent reports about the alleged installation of a mosque at the “Catedral Justo” Social Center, Mensajeros de la Paz would like to clarify the following:
- Our Social Center, known as “Catedral Justo,” is not officially recognized as a cathedral by the Church, nor has it been consecrated as a religious temple. It is a community space that hosts social, cultural, and spiritual initiatives, always with respect for faith and the legacy of Justo Gallego.
- The interfaith prayer space was set up over a year ago in a non-central annex, at the request of the local Muslim community, which had lost its place of worship. Currently, the space is not in regular use, but it remains open to anyone of any religion who needs a dignified place to pray.
- The same center also includes spaces dedicated to other Abrahamic faiths, such as a synagogue and a non-Catholic Christian area, promoting coexistence and respect among traditions.
- No Catholic symbols have been removed, nor has there been any intention to mix religions.
- We maintain a good relationship with the parishes and Cáritas of Mejorada del Campo, and we have not received any complaints from local residents.
- Most visitors view this initiative positively, as a gesture of openness and respect.
- Mensajeros de la Paz reaffirms its commitment to hospitality, interfaith respect, and solidarity, always with absolute respect for our religious tradition and the legacy of Justo Gallego, whose work we continue to care for with dedication and responsibility.
