Mensajeros de la Paz Celebrates the 89th Birthday of Father Angel, a Symbol of Dedication and Humanity

On March 11, 2026, the Mensajeros de la Paz family celebrated the 89th birthday of Father Ángel García, founder and president of the organization and an undisputed benchmark for solidarity in Spain and the world. A day marked by affection, memories and gratitude to a figure who has spent almost nine decades dedicating his life to those who need it most.

Father Ángel was born in Asturias in 1937 and was ordained a priest in 1961. From a very young age, he stood out for his social commitment. In 1962 he founded the first initiative that would give rise, years later, to Mensajeros de la Paz, today present in dozens of countries and a benchmark in the care of vulnerable people of all ages.

At 89 years old, he is still active, leading projects, celebrating masses, accompanying homeless people and remembering that “in the end, what they are going to ask us is if we have wanted and let ourselves be loved, nothing more”.

On the occasion of his birthday, the teams of different branches of Mensajeros de la Paz (MensajerosAD, Fundación Social Padre Ángel) prepared a video tribute that covers, in two minutes, the essential milestones of his life: from his childhood in Asturias to the expansion of the organization, through his dedication to the lonely, homeless, elderly, children and families who are going through difficult times.

At 89 years of age, Father Ángel continues to demonstrate that solidarity is a path that is traveled every day. His commitment to keep churches open, promote innovative projects and accompany those who live in solitude continues to guide our mission.

His life is an example that, even in difficult times, love—true love, self-giving and sharing—remains capable of transforming the world.

From the entire family of Mensajeros de la Paz we say to you today, once again:
Happy 89th birthday, Father Angel. Thank you for teaching us that helping is always the answer.
